Advanced Rider Techniques Training Course

I already know how to ride a bike so why do I need training?

A 2-day course for experienced bikers, this course consists of exercises that emphasize personal risk management and road craft with emphasis in advanced cornering, braking and swerving.

Even if you’ve been riding for several years, there’s always something new to learn! In addition to making you safer and improving your survival on the road, advanced training can make motorcycling more fulfilling, enjoyable and rewarding.

The course teaches you advanced street survival skills on your own bike - sports, adventure, dual sport, cruisers and dirt bikes etc.

At the end of the course, participants should be

-More confident in the wet or on slippery roads.

-Skilfully and confidently ride over gravel or bumpy road surfaces.

-Able to deal with a bend that unexpectedly tightens up.

-Able to safely bring your bike to a halt in half the distance you think you can.

-Confidently do low speed turns or circles in the road, even two-up.

-Able to use body position to increase the stability of your bike.

-Able to understand how your bike reacts at the extremes of braking and cornering.

Advanced Rider Technique (ART) Promises:

ART is committed to making you a better and safer rider and in doing so makes these promises:

Specific, measurable improvement in your riding. No matter what skill level you are now, ART will make a recognizable difference in your ability to control your bike.

Better understanding of how your bike works. How what you do affects your bike's ability to maintain traction and control .

High teacher-to-student ratio. Each class is divided in groups with never more than six students per instructor for lots of individual attention and support.

Training Objectives:

Advanced braking in corners
Advanced cornering
Riding over obstacles and potholes safely.
Counter steering.
Advanced observation and planning.

Course Contents
Bike Stability Exercises
Advanced Braking (Front And Rear Wheel Skids)

ABW are also leaders in preparing bikes for expeditions and they prepare most of the bikes for Unchained Tours trips. Gary also runs motorcycle training days in the beautiful Peak district and caters for all standards so if you feel you need some training, please get in touch

Changing Sprockets!

When you get a new replacement part for your motorcycle you should definitely want to learn about the particular part, how it works and how to make it work better for your choice of use. I am testing the cheap Volar chain (O ring is best) with the JK sprocket for my F800GS, not to improve on the function but to make a regular replacement (old one is dead).  I rode close to the beach with a friend (Bami) which was my first real off road riding with the lighter GS and it was fantastic.

I saw the below on YouTube and decided to share:

We ride for SOS Children's Villages

Having travelled a few times in the West African sub region, the plight of many children on the street is something that has stayed with me and I realised that I need to do something to help.

I started researching and found the SOS Children's Villages, a world-wide charity that supports orphaned and abandoned children in 122 countries around the world.
I could have just put in my contribution but realised that the more people I could get involved the better for the children.

My friends and I would be riding our motorcycles  about  8000 miles through most of West Africa stopping to visit the children’s charity villages in each country as we go along, about 28 SOS villages in 8 West African nations to raise awareness and money for the SOS Children's Villages. We would be riding through Republic of Benin, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Gambia, Mali, Burkina Faso and Nigeria

Our  goal is: to highlight the work the SOS children’s villages have been doing and the plight of children in the sub region as well as raise funds to create and sustain  SOS Children’s Villages

We would like you to follow our page to keep abreast of how we are doing with preparations and then follow our trip when we leave in September 2015. Invite your friends to like our page  and help us raise funds for a great cause.
www.facebook.com/rykersride.

We  hope to  inspire and encourage  individuals and corporations to make a difference in the life of a less privileged child.

Whatever your reason for supporting us, be it impressed with our riding such a distance on motorcycles, our desire to make a difference in the life of another  or simply because you think we are mad, please donate and help us help the children who really need it. Please encourage people to direct funds to
http://www.soschildrensvillages.org.uk/sponsor-a-child/africa
Please make your donations to the SOS village you sponsor with a mention of Rykers ride
Thank you,
