Is there anything like a bikers Christmas?  How do bikers spend their Christmas? Do we ride? When do we ride? What do we ride? Should we be with family? Should we ride to be with family? What location will the Christmas be fun? What type of fun should we hope for? Should we ride for JESUS? Whose season is it? What are we celebrating? Should we put smiles on peoples face? How can we make family appreciate us? Will financial constrain affect our fun? Should we watch are spending? Must we spend so much money? Who’s getting married this season?

Will you break up with your girlfriend this season? Who needs a gift this season? Will I get a surprise? Who is a December baby? Who is getting pregnant this season? How many mothers will give birth this Christmas? Who is making money this season? What do you hope for this season? Will you be disappointed this season?

The BT 2015 - A Celebration of Speed!

Nigeria's Festival of Speed

So the 2015 edition of Nigeria's Superbike Road Race has come and gone. Motoring Nigeria was present to cover every single bit of the event which was a grand success and of course a significant improvement compared to last year's event. It was an exhilarating weekend for all those who attended the event as everybody got their own excessive dose of adrenaline

Friday 27th of November, 2015 was the date slated for arrival at Motel Bellisima in the ancient city of Benin, Edo state. On that day, Nigerians witnessed the presence of bikers on various highways as they made their way to Benin from all over the country. Saturday morning was quite unique as everyone woke up feeling all energetic and ready to race but before that, we first had to travel about 1.5 hours from Benin through Benin-Asaba expressway to the race location- Urhonigbe, Edo State.

On our arrival at Urhonighe, we were welcomed by the sheer serenity of the area, we knew we were in a whole different environment as the children, women and men lined up the smooth virgin asphalt welcoming us with smiles and waving at us till we got to the race venue.
Riding to the venue, it was clear that the organizers had found a 32km stretch of road that was "perfect" for  street race course having obtained the approval of the Government of Edo State to shut down the road for the purpose of the race. it is 32 km of seductively smooth track like asphalt surface with, with long straights where the racers easily hit above 290km/hr and sharp, slow and fast curves that test the braking and cornering ability of the racers. It was clear we were in for a racing treat.

This year also saw the presence of two global power brands in motorsport in attendance - RedBull and Yamaha Racing.

The event started with a few practice laps for bikers who wanted to get accustomed to the beautiful curves the road had to offer. The practice laps were followed by a dance presentation which sort of snowballed into a competition (who knew bikers could dance). This was followed by the introduction of the contestants for the Ultimate Bike Girl Nigeria Pageant and occasional drone performances by the drone pilot who was supposed to be using the drone to video the event, but hey, its okay because the villagers liked it and I know that because they never stopped waving at the drone. After all these, the race began, with up to 40 contestants covering the 32km route each. Male and female winners emerged in both the 600cc (capacity) and 1000cc categories. Jack Affara who won last year's race also clinched the first positioning The BT Championship 1000cc Category this year covering 32km in 10 mins 28 seconds, second position went to Ahmed Alpacino who covered 32km in 10 mins 42 seconds and the third position went to Mohammed (Mo Ducati) who covered 32km in 10mins 54seconds. The female winners were Oreoluwa Ojo (15mins 23seconds), Jeminat Olumegbon (15mins 31seconds) and Kelly Jumbo (16mins 40seconds).

The Above 1000cc Category winners were Argo Raak (10mins 11seconds), Ini Ralph (10mins 57seconds) and Darlinton (11mins 1second).After the race, we proceeded to the finish line @Ugbokirima where trophies were awarded to the winners. After all said and done, we hit again the highway for the ride back to Benin where some people chilled and others decided to cool off by swimming. Evening time came and that signalled the beginning of the Ultimate Bike Girl Nigeria Pageant at Hexagon Hotel, where Miss Onyinye Okereke emerged as the winner. To spice up the evening, a car raffle draw was held and was won by Miss Oreoluwa Ojo who went home with a brand new Kia Picanto. Sunday the 29th of November, 2015 was departure day and we prepared for the hard ride back to base.

I have attended some motorsport events in Nigeria and this stands as the most memorable. I say kudos to the organizers for striving to introduce genuine motorsport to Nigeria, even though there is still great room for improvement. This was serious racing!

As with all races, there is the likelihood of crashes. In this year's event, there were about seven crashes. Most of the crashes happening at a famous high speed right turn curve. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries and the racers are back home and well and already planning for next years event which comes up again on the 26th of November, 2016. Going by the successes achieved at this year's event, it will be correct to say that motorsport, superbike racing, has taken off in Nigeria. IF you pump RED, like me, don't miss next year's event.

The Gathering (EVENT)

So Bikers Movement still observing from a distance (not intentional). The Road Roar (By Scan) went by and was successful seen from pictures posted on riders’ forum (by Cowboy). Well organized I presumed because it was safe and we never heard of an issue or a crash. Due to the neglect from the SCAN team we had no relevance in the event so we watched from an angle.

I was at the final event of Scans package, planned start time “10am” but I got there 11am (still on the “good boy list”). Was expecting the event to be fully packed with lot of activities, well Nigerian time must not be underrated and ignored. Well prepared event setup, dinner-like setup but the sun  was not friendly for a morning to evening merriment, the sun must go down to fully get the 100% maximum expected fun.

It was good to see family presence, not just the usual hard core bikers’ event which we love but a semi funfair look alike. Dancers aggressively waiting to bust into stage action, “looking good” ushers roaming around with their pretty self selling tickets, Biker City , metallic horse, AXA insurance, shoptomydoor and Boulos Nigeria showing off what they have to offer. The FD foundation wasn’t left out too.

Now the mood is set.  Still locked on to the suspense we have been subjected to by the SCAN organizers which bikers are not used to. The time is now flying like an eagle hoping to see a full event. Where are the Lagos and the visiting bikers? Where are the SCAN lots (now 1pm)?

Behold the Hard riders (2) make their entry “wow”, 09ers glide-ly walked in looking sent from the bikers heaven, neatly dressed for the fun, some wheelers MC members already present, infinity my infinity (Kaduna) bikers present , REMC, Peace Riders MC ………etc made the presence in small numbers but were acknowledged.

I had to go round greeting old friends and making new friends from the manageable numbers I saw. Time still not slowing down (suspense still activated) blood pumping (BT lol) here comes the dancers stepping up the stage  so blessed I can only picture myself having such talent and flexibility but I quickly had to wake up. Loudest bike loading, noisy Jack, Rohit and other “wannabes” stepped up to the challenge but not scared of the rev implication. IT’S JACK AGAIN.

Now it’s time to show of the most pimped motorcycle but wait I see no sweet looking motorcycle here just for one ROHIT and Mr T from the Eagles MC,  well just hope the ladies will judge right. A BIKER I DON’T KNOW WON IT with his Christmas looking R1.

Now it’s time to cross over to the beach front for more fun (volley ball, jet-ski).

Back to the event- bikers not seeing any action still waiting for the NEW thing had to take their leave for the late comers to come try their luck on the suspense.

The action was the Road Roar

For bikers the ride is always the destination

Congratulation SCAN on your successful event .We hope it will be better next time.

28/10/2015 06:55 PM: Jay: Greetings boss
28/10/2015 06:56 PM: Jay: The BT is closer that we think

28/10/2015 06:56 PM: Jay: What are your plans
28/10/2015 07:20 PM: Blow Biker: Yea....it is
28/10/2015 07:20 PM: Blow Biker: Howdy mate

28/10/2015 07:20 PM: Blow Biker: I will race again😁

28/10/2015 07:21 PM: Jay: what made you not win the race last time
28/10/2015 07:23 PM: Blow Biker: Hmm....lets just say they were better than me
28/10/2015 07:24 PM: Jay: So what are ur plans to win it

28/10/2015 07:32 PM: Blow Biker: Will be using another bike with a much higher BHP.
28/10/2015 07:32 PM: Jay: So it's speed that was the problem
28/10/2015 07:34 PM: Blow Biker: Not really....its an added advantage
28/10/2015 07:35 PM: Blow Biker: I have the required skill...with a great bike, I should come out tops.

28/10/2015 07:37 PM: Jay: Now we have the skills and a better bike. Don't think the road (track) has changed. What part of the road it difficult or let's say challenging
28/10/2015 07:41 PM: Blow Biker: Correction sir..i always had the skill. There is an arc which we called 'sand sand'. It's like an angle 90.

28/10/2015 07:43 PM: Jay: So skills has been upgraded. Moral is 100% with the new motor. what's ur plan for ther "sand sand" zone

28/10/2015 07:44 PM: Blow Biker: ....will use that to my advantage. I
28/10/2015 07:45 PM: Blow Biker: 😁

28/10/2015 07:48 PM: Jay: The TT just got into Nigeria. Lol
28/10/2015 07:48 PM: Jay: Nice one
28/10/2015 07:48 PM: Jay: So what can you say about the BT
28/10/2015 07:51 PM: Blow Biker: It's a great idea from Motocross, I am soo impressed with the work he has done thuse far. Will continue to support the progress in any capacity I can. For now, I am a racer!

28/10/2015 09:33 PM: Jay: I have never been to the event
28/10/2015 09:50 PM: Kunle Biker jos: The BT is simply a road race event
28/10/2015 09:51 PM: Kunle Biker jos: It's a sport bike race event
28/10/2015 09:52 PM: Kunle Biker jos: Bikers race to see who can cover a particular distance at the shortest possible time
28/10/2015 09:53 PM: Kunle Biker jos: Takeoff is at different time interval
28/10/2015 09:53 PM: Jay: So it's a time trial race like the TT.

THE MOTOGP SEPANG CLASH; The Warm Up

I actually thought that I was going to wait until after the #MotoGP Race in November to get back in here to take you inside the happenings of the most spectacular Motorcycle show spot in our terrestrial ball. Little knew I that that was just one thought that will never get the breath of actuality and a dream that only lasted for the night.

The Shell Malaysian Grand Prix held each year since April1999 at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) has always been a sacred Venue in the MotoGP calendar. 23rd October, 2011 Marco Simoncelli #58 (SuperSic) crashed and died few hours later having collided with Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi. This makes the Sepang Circuit a sacred place as the memory of the young Italian rider is always rekindled here every year in the racing weekends.

In that line of thought and believe, my mind had saddled to watch Valentino Rossi who was best friend with the late Simoncelli to tributize his fallen compatriot in his unique ways, a feat The Doctor is excellent in. Like every other thought, it was just a thought. Like every other dream, this was just a dream never meant to be fulfilled rather leave medulla faculty in an active yet illusive state.
(Insert 3rd Image)25th October 2015 at Sepang International Circuit the red lights went out and the 24 best motorcycle riders in the world led by Dani Pedrosa blast off the line as a well locked ballistic missile intended to annihilate its target. World Championship leader Valentino Rossi had a better start off his rival and team mate Jorge Lorenzo and looked ready to battle for the win to further extend his championship lead from Lorenzo. Lorenzo's story in the first few turns was that he found himself behind the over powerful Ducati Desmosedici GP15s of Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone. The Yamaha boy knew he had to find a way to escape on his M1 to keep his title hopes alive until the final race in Valencia.

What a moment! What I'm I doing? Egba mi o, Like my Yoruba colleague often exclaims. I do not even know what it means but I know this ain't the time for translation as this is not Language digest. Either ways, I am also really not supposed to generate and play a visual picture in your head with my scripted account of the MalaysianGrand Prix race as that is not what dragged me from BikeGP.wordpress.com to Bikersmovement.com. More unfortunate for GP results head is that the race was neither reported on the former media as a result of the MotoGP #SepangClash between Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez

Not until last Sunday, I have never watched neither a Motorcycle race nor any other film or movie that was that long. The new MotoGP Documentary film "HITTING THE APEX" by Mark Neale and Brad Pitt is over 2hours 40minutes playtime long yet still it's nothing compared to the 2015 MotoGP Shell Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit. I have watched the Hobbit trilogy in a sitting and if you towed that same line and also watched last Sunday MotoGP race then you will agree totally with me that it's long yet all that combined isn't as long as the MotoGP Malaysian Grand Prix which was concluded last Sunday and is still playing and will continually play in the minds of MotoGP fanatics. A MotoGP Race lasts just 45 minutes, believe me folks, this was not the case on Sunday when Valentino Rossi ran wide to cause Marc Marquez to crash off his Honda RC213V and the Malaysian Grand Prix responding to the young chap's conspiracy theory to rub the 9 times World Champion of his 10th World Championship title.

If you tag last Sunday's race as 'MotoGP, The Extended Version' you will be damn right, pal. I tell you.. This is just "The WARM UP" practice trying to find a way to give you the real report as it's supposed to, thus, stay tuned for The MotoGP SepangClash Series featuring World Famous Valentino Rossi and Wannabe Marc Marquez.. The next episode is titled "THE MOTOGP SEPANG CLASH; Verbal Attacks"
